In the first six months of 2025, the WeCare-Association financed 57,600 school meals for 662 children<\/strong> in Kenya – a commitment that goes far beyond satisfying hunger. After all, school nutrition is much more than a social gesture – it is a fundamental prerequisite for education, health and equal opportunities. <\/p>\n

When hunger prevents learning success<\/h3>\n

Many children in rural areas of Kenya suffer from chronic malnutrition<\/strong>. This occurs when too little or unbalanced food is consumed over a long period of time – with serious consequences: physical weakness, a weakened immune system and developmental disorders. The brain is particularly affected: studies show that a balanced and regular diet is crucial for concentration, memory and emotional stability<\/strong>. If you’re hungry, you can’t learn – it’s as simple as that. <\/p>\n

School nutrition as a door opener to education<\/h3>\n

A reliable school nutrition program can make all the difference. Children come to school more regularly<\/strong>, stay more focused in class and are less likely to drop out. At the same time, parents are more motivated<\/strong> to send their children to school – because they know that their child is not only learning, but also getting enough to eat. <\/p>\n

Breakfast for Mperrishi: A strong start to the school day<\/h3>\n

In the remote village of Mperrishi, WeCare 2025 has introduced an additional breakfast program. 170 children receive a hot breakfast – a nutritious mixture of ground maize, millet and sorghum, prepared with water and milk – every day during the break at 09:40<\/strong>.
Many children travel a long way to school – often on foot and without breakfast. The daily meal not only strengthens the body, but also self-esteem. Teachers report more alert, more motivated pupils<\/em>– and significantly more children in class. <\/p>\n

School meals are not a minor matter – they are the basis<\/h3>\n

With every meal we finance, we not only give children food, but also a perspective. We invest in health, education and the future.
