The first half of 2025 was characterized by tangible progress, moving encounters and ongoing challenges that remind us how important our mission is. Here is an overview of what we have achieved together this year.
Key successes & ongoing projects
Kenya – Food, water & empowerment
Mpirrishi
The school feeding program has been expanded to include a warm porridge meal in the morning – this increases the children’s energy and school attendance. Our commitment against female genital mutilation (FGM) continues: with safe spaces for girls and growing commitment from parents.
Embolism
We have introduced a school feeding program for the 343 enrolled children and ensure regular water supplies. The local water tank urgently needs to be repaired – but the children’s willingness to learn and their resilience are impressive.
Rehoboth
The provision of food, water and supervision strengthens the pupils. Despite a high turnover in the teaching team, motivation is increasing – thanks to a newly introduced bonus system for teachers.
Well project – Water is life
Our main focus in 2025 is the construction of a well in Mpirrishi. This important project should:
- Supplying clean drinking water for the entire community
- Prevent diseases caused by unclean water
- Enabling girls to go to school instead of having to fetch water
The costs amount to approx. CHF 45,000 with depreciation over 25 years.
Cambodia – Education & Perspectives
- We have brought school uniforms and learning materials to remote regions – a great help for children in need.
- Our social enterprise Femmes des rizières is growing: with new partnerships and professional merchandising in the pipeline.
- A special highlight: the Safe House children’s trip to Siem Reap – full of laughter, joy and new impressions.
